Strategies to Improve Employee Health and Well-Being
Promoting and supporting employee health and well-being is essential to a happier and more effective workplace, but how can workers overcome certain barriers such as sedentary job positions, stress, poor eating habits, and burnout? In this presentation, you will learn tips and tricks to stay active at work, manage different types of stress, prepare healthier meals and snacks, and develop resilience strategies to better both your job environment and work-life balance.
Presenter
Melody Case is the Wellness Coordinator at Akron Children’s Hospital. Her job is based at the Beeghly Campus in Boardman, Ohio, though her position services all employees at any location. Melody was born and raised on the west side of Youngstown, Ohio and graduated with honors from Chaney High School in 1996. She worked as a group exercise instructor at numerous fitness facilities in the Mahoning Valley between 2000 and 2006, and also managed one in the early 2000s, but left the industry for a full-time position outside of the field. Melody returned to college in 2009 and became a summa cum laude graduate of Youngstown State University, where she earned her Bachelor’s of Science degree in Exercise Science in 2011. As the hospital’s Wellness Coordinator, Melody works directly with the employees by coordinating and facilitating the well-being incentive program, wellness challenges, health education events and presentations, health fairs, onsite fitness center, the employee assistance program, and many other health and wellness initiatives.
